“ With yarn and a needle I can tell many stories”

Honey Pierre’s artistic journey defies boundaries, eloquently capturing the essence of identity through photographic reimaginings adorned with vibrant palettes. Her exploration of the stories within the black and brown communities goes beyond just identity, encapsulating the vibrant narratives of our lives. The vivid shades of blue she employs symbolize our skin tones, much like her predecessors, offering a unique portrayal of our shared experiences.

Within the rich tapestry of the international fiber arts industry, her quest for brown shades unexpectedly unfolded a spectrum of blues, marking a transformative shift in perspective. Blue metamorphosed into a symbol of liberation—free from censorship, accessible despite erasure, and surpassing unrealistic expectations. Through her color palettes, she explores and navigates realms of gender, religion, and cultural diversity, transcending racial confines to delve into the multifaceted narratives of our community.

For Honey, art is an exploration and celebration of our shared stories. Punch needle, wielded as a single needle dancing with yarn, becomes the quintessence of her artistic expression. Each meticulously etched portrait echoes the vibrant lives pulsating within the black and brown communities. Every stitch becomes a testament to resilience and triumph—a vehicle for storytelling, recreating defining moments of our daily existence.

Immersed in the intricacy of punch needle, Honey recreates the fabric of our lives, weaving shared stories onto her canvas. Her portraits intricately blend emotions, inviting others to deeply engage with these experiences. Beyond being a medium of creation, her use of punch needle extends an invitation for all to immerse themselves in the kaleidoscope of our community’s daily life and celebrations
